Start with guidance. Build a routine on your terms.
Smash Factor gives you a practical way to start using Trackman: try it with guidance at a free introduction, learn which feedback helps your practice, then pay for sessions as you book. You can build a routine without first buying a block of practice hours.
If you are comparing us with Shots Factory, both studios offer Trackman, swing cameras, private rooms and coaching. Our case rests on how those tools fit into your life: a guided start, the same core equipment in every bay, and practice payments that follow the sessions you book.
At Smash Factor, annual membership costs $2,680 and gives you a year of 24/7 booked practice access, with sessions charged separately from $150/hour. Come in for a focused session, build on a lesson or bring a friend along. You pay for practice as you book. Shots Factory sells prepaid practice hours, with lower hourly rates on larger passes, as well as lesson-and-practice bundles.
All prices below are in Hong Kong dollars. The regular-practice examples are for one golfer using a Smash Factor open bay and bringing their own clubs. Room and group bookings need their own comparison, including any guest or room charges.
What does an hour of practice cost?
At Smash Factor, solo open-bay practice is $150/hour with annual membership, or $250/hour with a valid visitor lesson pass. Without either, visitor sessions start at $350/hour. Membership is $2,680 a year; lesson passes have their own prices and validity.
Shots Factory’s standalone practice passes work out to:
- $390/hour: $3,900 for ten hours, valid for three months.
- $340/hour: $6,800 for twenty hours, valid for six months.
- $290/hour: $14,500 for fifty hours, valid for twelve months.
Those rates assume you use all the included hours. Shots also advertises a $500 visitor hour for up to four people per bay, with club rental included, so you can visit without buying a pass.
For one visitor who needs clubs, a Smash Factor open bay costs $450 for one hour, including one rental set: $350 for the bay plus $100 for the clubs. That is a closer comparison with Shots’ $500 visitor hour than the bay-only price. Club rental is free for Smash members and valid lesson-pass holders.
The $150 member rate gets you Trackman 4, dual-angle swing replay and 4K projection. You can review the shot and the swing behind it without upgrading to a private room. The rate also stays the same at any booked time, including weekends and public holidays. Annual membership is additional.
Membership or prepaid hours?
Smash Factor’s $2,680 annual membership gives you 24/7 practice access for twelve months, member lesson prices and solo open-bay practice at $150/hour. Early before work, late after dinner or at the weekend, you can book around your routine at the same member rate. Sessions are paid separately; the annual fee is not practice credit. Access applies to booked sessions, while coaching is by appointment.
With a Shots Factory practice pass, the upfront payment buys hours to use within the pass period. That can be convenient if you prefer paying for a set amount of practice in advance. The important part is choosing a package you expect to use.
Start at Smash Factor with $2,830: annual membership plus your first practice hour. You then have the rest of the membership year to book at member rates, paying as you go. Shots’ ten-hour pass costs $3,900 and includes ten practice hours to use within three months. Both studios also offer visitor bookings if you just want an occasional session.
Busy month? There is no prepaid practice balance to use up. When you have more time, book more sessions at the same rate. Pay for practice as you book, without committing to a large prepaid package. Your annual membership still has a twelve-month term.
What if you practise four hours a month?
Four hours a month adds up to 48 hours a year. Here is the cost of that routine using annual membership at Smash Factor or a standalone practice pass at Shots Factory.
| For 48 hours of solo practice | Smash Factor | Shots Factory |
|---|---|---|
| Selected purchase | $2,680 membership + 48 × $150 | 50-hour practice pass |
| Total paid | $9,880 | $14,500 |
| Unused prepaid practice hours | None | 2 hours |
For this example, Smash Factor costs $4,620 less, before travel, parking and optional extras. All Shots hours must be used within the pass’s twelve-month validity. Its total includes two hours beyond the 48 used in this comparison.
Smash Factor’s total averages about $823 a month, or $206 per practice hour, including membership. The membership fee is paid annually upfront; this is a budget average, not a monthly subscription.
A short burst of practice can tell a different story. For ten hours within three months, Shots’ $3,900 pass costs $280 less than buying Smash membership and paying for those sessions ($4,180). Smash visitor bookings would instead total $3,500 for ten solo open-bay hours with your own clubs, but visitor access conditions differ from the 24/7 member/pass routes. Smash visitor sessions are usually available between 10am and 10pm, by booking only.
The reason to choose Smash membership in that situation would be the year ahead, rather than saving on those first ten hours. Your member access continues for twelve months, and additional solo practice remains $150/hour as you book. If you expect your routine to grow or change, that gives you room to adjust without another practice-pass purchase.
How often you will return matters more than the headline rate. Try your own routine in our cost calculator.
Starting golf? Give yourself room to practise.
A lesson gives you something to work on. Being able to return and practise is how you build on it. At Smash Factor, valid lesson-pass holders get 24/7 practice access, free club rental and preferential practice rates. Visitor pass holders can book solo open-bay practice at $250/hour during pass validity, without annual membership.
For beginners, Golf Foundations combines golf fundamentals with movement and coordination. Five hours cost $6,000 for visitors or $4,500 for existing members. The price covers one or two students, so you can learn with a partner at no extra lesson charge, provided the pass holder attends. The visitor pass lasts six months; member lessons follow membership validity, with unused hours carried forward when membership is renewed.
Joining with the five-hour pass costs $7,180 and gives you more than the lessons: five hours of instruction, annual membership and a full year of 24/7 practice access at member rates. Solo open-bay practice starts at $150/hour, paid as you book. Your practice access continues for the membership year even after you have used your five lesson hours. There is also a $12,800 option for twelve Foundations hours plus annual membership; practice is charged separately on that option too.
Want company between lessons? Bring friends to your member booking for $50/hour per additional golfer beyond those included in the bay or room rate. A private room is $200/hour with two golfers included. You can learn together, practise on your own or book a social round, all through the same membership. See the member rates and room options.
Shots Factory also encourages practice between lessons. Its annual plans combine coaching and practice, while separate passes let you buy them at different times. You do not have to purchase a full annual bundle to take lessons there.
Choosing coaching? Look beyond the session price.
Our Performance Coaching is a separate, one-to-one programme focused on ball flight, your goals and how you respond to instruction. Foundations is our movement-led beginner programme, so choose by what you want to learn as well as the price.
Shots Factory lists five instructors and separate instructor and Director pricing. Its standard instructor passes are cheaper than our Performance passes, and some combined annual plans can cost less at their included lesson-and-practice quantities. These are different programmes and instructors; the price comparison does not establish equivalent teaching or results.
At Smash Factor, the value is also in what you can do between appointments. A valid visitor lesson pass gives you 24/7 booked access, free clubs and solo open-bay practice at $250/hour, without requiring annual membership. You can revisit the movement on video and pay for the practice you book. Those are concrete parts of the learning arrangement to weigh alongside the lesson price.
For two beginners learning together, Foundations also covers the pass holder and one partner at the same lesson price. That is a different choice from one-to-one Performance Coaching, and a useful reason to look at the programme that fits you.
Which studio fits your week?
Shots Factory has HKU and Wanchai studios, with eligible passes providing access to both. If you spend most of your week on the Island, that convenience may make it easier to keep practising.
Smash Factor gives you reasons to consider Kwun Tong too: the full feedback setup at the open-bay rate, practice paid per booking, and connectable rooms when you want to bring a group. Weigh those benefits and the relevant cost example against your actual journey.
Smash Factor is in Kwun Tong, a short walk from Exit B1, with visitor parking in the building. If you live or work around Kowloon East, it is an easy location to put on your shortlist. Check how to find us before your visit.
Coming with a bigger group? Our two private rooms can connect, so you can use two simulators while staying together. The VIP room gives your group more room to relax. Choose the space for your occasion without changing the core Trackman setup. Shots also has private rooms; compare the space and group quote for your visit. Explore our bays and rooms.
Hit a few before you decide.
You do not need to understand Trackman before visiting. During our free 30-minute introduction, you hit shots, see your swing back and learn what selected feedback means for your practice. The point is to see how you would use the studio, and what you could pay attention to when you return, before choosing a pass or membership.
Shots Factory advertises a $980, 60-minute swing assessment, with the fee waived for a same-day twenty-hour lesson pass or annual-plan purchase. That is a different service from our shorter studio introduction.
The introduction is a chance to see more than a list of equipment. Try the feedback with your own swing and understand how you could use it next time. If you want that guided start, flexible practice payments and a setup you can return to regularly, come and try Smash Factor. Book your free intro, then decide what works for you.

Frequently asked questions
Is Smash Factor cheaper than Shots Factory for regular practice?
At four hours a month, or 48 hours a year, Smash Factor costs $9,880 including annual membership and solo open-bay practice. Shots Factory’s 50-hour practice pass costs $14,500, leaving two hours unused in this example. For only ten hours within three months, Shots’ $3,900 pass costs less than Smash membership plus those sessions. These examples assume you bring your own clubs and exclude travel and optional extras. Use our practice cost calculator for your routine.
Is Smash Factor’s $2,680 membership fee practice credit?
No. It gives you a year of 24/7 practice access and member rates, starting at $150/hour for a solo open bay. Pay for sessions as you book, so you can practise more in some weeks and less in others without buying a block of hours. See membership benefits and all hourly rates.
Can I take lessons and practise without becoming a member?
Yes. A valid visitor lesson pass gives you 24/7 practice booking and studio access, with solo open-bay practice at $250/hour, charged separately. Benefits last during pass validity. Explore our lesson programmes to find your starting point.
Do both studios offer Trackman and swing replay?
Yes. Smash Factor uses Trackman 4 with dual swing cameras and 4K projection throughout. Shots Factory advertises Trackman 4 at HKU, Trackman 4 and iO at Wanchai, and dual cameras in every bay. Explore Smash Factor’s setup to see how we use the feedback.
Can I learn golf with a friend or partner at Smash Factor?
Golf Foundations prices cover one or two students, with the pass holder attending every shared lesson. Performance Coaching is one-to-one. See the Foundations options for prices and validity.
Can I bring friends to practise with my Smash Factor membership?
Yes. On your member booking, additional golfers cost $50/hour each beyond the number included in the bay or room rate. An open bay includes one golfer; a private room starts at $200/hour with two included. You can switch between solo practice and sessions with friends. See member room rates.
Can I try Smash Factor before buying a pass or membership?
Yes. Book a free 30-minute intro to hit shots, review your swing and learn how to use selected Trackman feedback in practice. It is a studio introduction, rather than a full one-hour coaching assessment.
